Nell plans postie bike marathon
You might think it's a little crazy, but Peter
Nell is heading to the Birdsville Races in the Queensland - on a
postie bike.
Describing the arduous trek as a "challenge",
Mr Nell and more than a dozen others are undertaking the 3700 kilometer
journey to help raise money for the Habitat for Humanity Prisonbuild
and Junee Lions Club.
The ride will finish with a gala event at the
Junee Golf Club where the Postie Bike that Mr Nell rides will be
auctioned off to help raise funds.
But first Mr Nell needs a postie bike to
head north on.
Mr Nell is hoping a member of the Junee community
has a spare postie bike for donation, or that a business will
sponsor the venture with funds to buy a new bike.
It doesn't even need to be a whole bike - Mr Nell
would accept one in pieces - with the Junee Correctional Centre
inmates enrolled in automotive engineering ready to make it roadworthy.

"I'll accept whatever anyone can put together" Mr
Nell said.
"I'm thinking of organising a helmet camera
to keep people updated"
he said.
The goal is to raise $10,000 - and Mr Nell
is even growing his hair and a beard to auction to the highest bidder
for the rights to shave it off on September 7.
Anyone who can donate a bike, boots, coats
or supplies such as fuel should contact Mr Nell on 0418 695 944.
Junee Lions Club will be donating funds to
the Leukaemia Foundation.
Habitat for Humanity provides people needing
a house a hand up, but not a hand out with new owners working and
fundraising to help the project reach completion.
